About Southwest Music Fest

Rooted in music and fueled by flavor, Southwest Music Fest has grown into one of Platteville’s signature summer celebrations-bringing together live music, local businesses, great food, and hometown spirit year after year.

Southwest Music Fest began in 2010 as a community-driven Hometown Hog Roast organized by a passionate group of local residents. Originally held at The Annex, the event quickly became a favorite summer tradition, bringing people together through food, music, and community connection.

Hometown Hog Roast

Rooted in Community

Following the death of Tom Fiedler, the main cook of the hog roast, Hometown Hog Roast came to an end in 2016. The Platteville Regional Chamber assumed leadership of the festival and expanded the event into a larger music-focused celebration throughout Historic Second Street.

Growing Into A Downtown Tratition

At its core, Southwest Music Fest has always been about community. The vision was simple: create an unforgettable experience that supports downtown businesses while showcasing the energy and culture of the Platteville community.  Every stage, storefront, and gathering space contributes to the experience that makes the event uniquely Platteville.

A Festival That Keeps Growing

Over the past decade, Southwest Music Fest has grown significantly in attendance, entertainment, and regional recognition. While the festival continues to evolve each year, its mission remains the same: preserve the welcoming hometown atmosphere that has defined it from the very beginning.
